EASY TO GROW AROMATIC HERB: Siam Queen is an outstanding strain of Thai Basil with dark green leaves and deep purple flower stems. It boasts and excellent spicy aroma and flavour which is ideal for Eastern style cooking. A vigorous annual herb boasting highly aromatic, glossy green leaves rich with a licorice basil aroma.

IMPROVED THAI BASIL: Siam Queen is an improved Thai basil or tropical basil, Ocimum basilicum  As an added bonus, it is late to produce flowers, which often makes basil develop a bitter taste. While most basils are grown just for their leaves and flavor, Siam Queen Basil is prized for both its culinary use and ornamental qualities: green foliage and attractive lavender flowers.

HOW TO PLANT: Sow seed indoors in trays of seed compost, 6mm deep and cover with finely sieved compost. Cover & keep at a temperature of between 18-20C. Keep watered and germination should take place in about 5-10 days. When the seeds have germinated, water sparingly to prevent 'damping off.' Carefully transplant each seedling to a small pot and grow on for 4 weeks. Either transplant into 15cm pot about or into garden.

TOP GROWING TIPS: In many Thai dishes, Thai basil is added last, just prior to serving for its fragrance and flavor. Remember it is of tropical origin, so provide warm soil and air temperatures for rapid vigorous growth, for best results grow indoors, greenhouse or polytunnel. Pinch out tips to encourage bushy plants.
